Steeped in mythology and exhibiting an air of natural purity, luxury Greece holidays combine a mountainous beauty with a myriad of world-class beach resorts.  A destination where the lifestyle is spun out in the warmth of the southern sun, a holiday in Greece can both stimulate the mind and soothe the senses.

History & Culture

Athens

The cradle of Western civilisation and the capital of Greece, Athens is splendidly located on twelve hills overlooking the Saronic Gulf – take the funicular to the summit of Lycabettus Hill for unforgettable views. The city is dominated by the Acropolis with its iconic temples including the Parthenon, while within a short distance of Athens lies the Temple of Poseidon. Explore the triangle of historic districts – Thission, Psyrri and Plaka where picturesque cobbled streets are lined with nineteenth century neoclassical homes. Enjoy a fun evening in traditional style at the renowned live bouzoukia.

Stunning

Santorini

Famed for its colourful cliffs, whitewashed architecture and blue domed churches, Santorini is a true gem sat amidst the gleaming waters of the Aegean. A romantic island offering magnificent sunsets and superb beaches, the island is better suited to gay couples.  Many visitors combine Santorini with a trip to Mykonos.

Santorini’s most Instagrammable beaches include the Red, Black and White Beaches. Popular beaches for LGBT+ visitors are the beaches of Vlychada and Cape Columbo. Koloumbos and Exomitis Beaches have also become well known for their gay-friendly attitude!

Sailing into the crescent-shaped, steep-sided volcanic caldera of Santorini is simply breathtaking. High up on the cliff face lie the traditional villages of Oia, from where 286 steps lead down to the beach of Ammoudi, and Imerovigli with its houses built amphitheatrically around the crater rim.

Hidden treasures:  Take the cable car from the harbour in Santorini to the town of Fira for panoramic sunset vistas of the Santorini caldera

Magical

Mykonos

Cosmopolitan and lively, picture-perfect Mykonos is famed for the white-washed windmills which overlook Mykonos Town, and the lively nightlife which centres around the harbour.

Every summer, sculpted bronze bodies contrast with the dazzling whitewashed buildings that house chic café-bars. Situated midway through the clutch of islands that stretch across the Aegean from mainland Greece.  A haven – or should that be ‘heaven’? – for gay holiday-makers, the island is home to an open-minded populace, glitz and glamour that continue to rule the day. Be it in the beaches, bars, or boutiques, on Mykonos, gay culture is freely celebrated in all its diversity and glory.

Hidden treasures:  Stop for a fresh seafood lunch at local Babulas Tavern on the water’s edge

Crete

Crete is set to become one of the busier Islands over the Summer offering a more relaxed holiday than its more famous island neighbours.  The annual gay pride of Crete takes places in June or July and takes place in Heraklion city. It is a small but colourful affair.

Hersonissos, great restaurants, cafes and beaches make it a must-visit! Hersonissos is at the heart of Gay Crete, coming alive during the months of June to September. The town is home to the island’s most popular gay beach, Sarantari Beach, as well as other beautiful beaches including Agia Pelagia. There is also a gay bar called Y.O.L.O Bar, located in the port of Hersonissos.

The island is famous for its under-the-radar, gay beach scene. Crete is a big island and you are not going to see it all in one day!
